Baking with Mommy

Audrey LOVES muffins so I try to keep the freezer stocked for her breakfasts. Today we made ham and cheese muffins and apple zucchini muffins. Audrey helped me make the apple zucchini ones. She thought it was great - perhaps she'll like baking more than I do!

"Audrey stir?"

Wait! Don't eat the raw egg!

We're pretty sure she is right handed.

The beach 2013

We went to the beach with my family this past week. We had a marvelous time, though we are all exhausted. We wore out Audrey every day going to the ocean (and once to the pool). All week we had great weather; it was downright cool with the breeze blowing! Here are some of my favorite pics from the week.

All week she would take buckets to Nick and he would fill them up with water, and then she would run them back up to our chairs...

...and dump them on herself!

I am in desperate need of a tan...too bad I still don't have one.

This was the most contained they were all week!

Sadie the mermaid (my cousin's three year old):

Hugs on the beach; poor Owen.

Buried alive and loving it!

The kids' table; we used this only sometimes, because someone was a food thief. Look at them innocently smiling at the camera while Audrey plots her thievery!

"Wing?" was a question Audrey asked a lot - she loved the porch swing.

Things I Don't Want to Forget, Part 4

Before I write out a few memorable moments lately, I would just like to announce that I'm calling it - she's potty trained! She goes days without accidents, though they do and will still happen occasionally, I know. She still likes to visit every public restroom multiple times because you know, they are so clean and nice. And I'm a slave to her "potty?" request because I can't just be sure she'll hold it. But by and large, Audrey is out of diapers and living in big girl underwear!

A few fun Audrey tidbits:

1) The other day she announced with a sigh, "I'm tired!" It caught me off guard because it sounded like, well, me! Ha! I laughed so hard and now she knows she can get a laugh so she says it a lot.

2) When she sits down, she gives a groan like she's 85 and all her bones are creaky. It's hilarious.

3) She gives these bear hugs where she wraps her arms around your neck and just squeezes. Love those hugs!! I hope she always gives them.

4) She calls all meals "yummy yummy." As in, it's time for yummy yummy.

5) Audrey has favorite cashiers at the grocery store, and talks to them when we check out. She also tells them goodbye and asks to hug them when we leave. Might need to have a boundaries talk with her in the not too distant future!

6) She's started using a nonsense word all the time. She said "furdur" when she doesn't know the word for something or just as a flip response without thinking. It took us forever to figure out what it was, but decided it was just a filler.

7) She counts 1,2,3,6,7,2,3,8,2,3. Really loves 2 and 3.

8) She eats off a monkey placemat and every single meal, without fail, when her plate is removed, she shouts, "MONKEY!!!!!!!!" at the top of her lungs like she's never seen it, and then "hop, hop, hop!"

Oh yeah, I had an anniversary

Nick and I celebrated 11 years of marriage last Saturday. Mom and Dad graciously offered to host Tornado Audrey for the night so we headed to Chattanooga for a little day trip. We visited our favorite used book store and sold a bunch of book and bought a few as well. Then we saw a movie and ate dinner at Sticky Fingers, one of our favorite restaurants. I neglected to get any pictures except this one, a rainbow on our way home.

We had a very nice day just being the two of us again, though we missed our little squirt. These 11 years have just flown by and just keep getting better!!

Swim Lessons

This week Audrey and I went to the new aquatic center that opened in our county this past spring. I had signed her up for swimming lessons, and it was every day but Friday of this week from 11:20-11:50am. The first 5 minutes of the first lesson she was VERY nervous had her arms and legs wrapped around me in terror. But she very quickly became acclimated to the water and ended up LOVING it. As we left on Monday, she said "Bye bath!" and blew the water a kiss. She's been so excited every day to go back, and I think she'll be sad tomorrow when we don't go.

In the class, the focus is on getting them used to the water. We put them on their bellies and they kick, on their backs and they kick, then we throw a toy and they have to "swim" to get it. The class ends with songs/games and then jumping off the side of the pool. At the end of one of the songs, we dunk them under, and that wasn't her favorite, but she did really well, even asking for more by the third day. She got a certificate of participation and gave her instructor a big hug and kiss as we left. Such a sweet girl.

One of the other moms had her husband come along each day (she said he works from home so she drags him everywhere). He took pics of them on Monday and so yesterday I asked if I brought my camera, would he be willing to take a few of us. He happily obliged and while I was hoping for 2-3 pics, he took over 50!!! There were some duds, of course, but here are the best.
